Services
BRIDGES uses a comprehensive team approach. Each child receives services based on an individualized treatment plan developed by their therapist, parent(s)/guardian(s), school personnel, our team of treatment professionals, and the child themselves. Every treatment plan is approved by our Medical Director, who is a licensed psychiatrist.
BRIDGES offers psychotherapy services from Master’s level clinicians. Each week, every child will receive the following services: 1 hour of individual therapy, 1 hour of family therapy, and 2 hours of group therapy from a licensed therapist (clinician).
Family Therapy is designed to meet the family’s needs and are on a flexible schedule to assist families in being able to attend their sessions.
In addition to psychotherapy sessions, children also participate in a minimum of 12 hours of group rehabilitation services. These groups are facilitated by a Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager (BHCM II), requiring a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
Rehabilitation groups utilize an evidence-based curriculum that addresses the following topics: social skills, anger management, emotional expression, communication, problem-solving, skills needed to be school-ready, and many more.
Every child is enrolled in the local public school system in which the facility is located and he/she will receive a wide-range of educational services provided by a certified teacher. The teacher plays a vital role as a part of the treatment team. Class sizes remain small with a Max of a 1:10 staff/student ratio. Our goal is to ensure students receive the mental health support they need to learn and grow academically. School will follow the school calendar of local school system. However, when school is out children will attend our program on a shortened day in order to maintain consistency with their treatment plan.
BRIDGES has a commitment to their clients/students and the school district. Unless there is an unforeseen reason or it is part of a uniquely designed plan, we will not dismiss a child back to school without a transition period.
When a child is close to completing our program, we collaborate with the school to ensure that reintegration is completed smoothly.
Shortly before the transition plan is implemented, we meet with the staff at the school and guide school personnel on ways to interact with any future behaviors by explaining what has been effective for the child.
During the transition period, in most cases, the client/student will spend all of the academic portion of their day at their home school and the other half of their day in our program.
Transition periods vary on the unique needs of the client/student, but are usually 3-4 weeks in length.
If a client/student relapses in behavior after being discharged from the program, we will continue to consult with the school to help avoid a need for re-admission.
We facilitate follow-up care after the client/student has completed the program to ensure there is a continuity in care, if needed.
Our medical director is a licensed psychiatrist and can provide a high level of care that is typically only available in a residential/hospital setting. It can often be months to obtain a child psychiatrist outside of our program. Our medical director is readily available upon admission to evaluate and consult with our children and families. At a minimum of twice a month, our Medical Director comes to the facility to meet with children and meet with parents/guardians if needed. Having an in-house psychiatrist allows for the rapid adjustment of medication if needed.
In addition to formal meetings with the doctor, BRIDGES has a full-time licensed nurse (RN) on-site. The RN administers medications, provides health care for clients, and provides medication education for children, parents/guardians, and staff.
Our integrated, evidenced-based therapy treats serious emotional and/or behavioral problems in young people. Our goal is to give children and youth a safe, supportive environment to heal, move forward and transition back to their traditional school environment.
